Sharma honored for advancing engineering related to resource systems

Plant sciences department Assistant Professor Vivek Sharma was named to the 2018 Class of New Faces of Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering (ASABE).

Sharma is the extension irrigation specialist and is based at the Powell Research and Extension Center.

His research and extension program focus is agricultural water management with emphasis on irrigation engineering and science, evapotranspiration, soil and crop water dynamics, crop water productivity, and impact of climate variables in agricultural productivity.

Engineering colleagues and fellow ASABE members provide nominations. The new class was announced at the 2018 Agricultural Equipment Technology Conference in Louisville.

ASABE is an international scientific and educational organization dedicated to the advancement of engineering applicable to agricultural, food, and biological systems.

New Faces of ASABE recognizes the activities and accomplishments of ASABE members, all 35 years of age or younger, to improve quality of life and make sustainable use of natural resources, according to the organization.
